All the King's Men

---"What you don't know won't hurt you."

It appears a great movie, at least to me, or those who unfortunately share the very same idealistic view about the world, Jack Burden, Willie Stark or Adam Stanton ... It convinces me once more that " great tragedies are to destroy the priceless in front of the audience." After flowing along the smoothly and beautifully narrated stream down to the tragic ending, I feel that my heart starts bleeding badly.

To me, it is not merely a populist political show that ends in ashes. It is more about an attempt to bridge the gulf between our self-built Utopias and the substantial real world. Unfortunately, it prompts the question but does not offer the answer. When you can neither find a bridge nor give up one of the two worlds, you drawn.

"What you don't know won't hurt you." However, our intrinsic curiosity drives us to know more.

Here goes my story. Once upon a time, a girl from a quiet little town believed there was a Utopia out there and decided to find it at all costs. In her imagination, this Utopia would have no wars, no lies, and no conspiracies in any sense...people doing their own good and sharing their compassion for others. She was not afraid to understand, even if what understood might present as a reproach to her. She embarked on a long trip holding firmly to her faith, but helplessly saw her dream becoming more and more remote as her journey went on…

I don’t know how to interpret the ending of the movie. If only I do, the answer might provide a clue to complete my story. What I do clearly know is that I would be another Jack Burden if I were there at the scene. That’s probably what hurts most--- we live in a real world where idealism fails.

FINAL CURTAIN.
